Updates In The Works For Next Week

I have gotten some emails and comments about Facebook Traff Pop (FBTP) for WordPress and WordPress Like Locker this is an easier way to give everyone the full deets. Mainly some people were affected by Facebooks recent API issues in which the edge.create callback were not firing. This would cause any callback after clicking the like button to take place and was intermitent for about a week. Facebook’s bug page here. Most people had no problem but for those who did it seems to be working again as of a few days ago.

Cookies – Cookie management has been improved in both version of FBTP as well as Like Locker. All source code + CSS is now loaded trough WordPress’ built in enqueue_script/style function to make the plugins more efficient. I am also adding jQuery.noConflict() into all of the plugins to keep them from getting the dreaded xxFunctionNamexx is not a function error that some people get with a high number of JQ plugins.

All of the above is done all thats less is a couple new features that will allow Facebook Like Locker and FBTP to work together seamlessly. All of these updates will be in the review queue on CodeCanyon next week as always a free download for current buyers.

Also just got a great request for escape + click outside of the box to close features.

Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress v1.6 Update

I have just uploaded the new 1.6 version of Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress. It should fix a lot of headaches and comes with one small new feature:

Traffic Pop not working on anything but home page – A lot of people who used highly customized URL structures for their sites reported the pop up would only show on the home page and no sub pages. The error was bad file URL’s causing 404 errors for the scripts needed to run Traffic Pop and has been updated to use WordPress’s built in blog_info functions to get the correct file URLs regardless of your URL rewrites.

“FacebookTrafficPop is not a function” Error – I have also done some reading and changed out the ‘$’ signs that I believe were causing a lot of people’s installs to halt because of the way WordPress handles the signs internally. jQuery noConflict has been added and should ensure smooth sailing from now on.

New Feature - Opacity. You can now set the background opacity from the settings page in your WordPress admin panel.

Facebook Traffic Pop v1.6 Update

I have uploaded an update for Facebook Traffic Pop to version 1.6. The new version speeds things up a bit in the background as far as inserting the like button and two new features have been added.

  1. 0 Timeout – You can now set the timeout option to zero to disable the countdown timer completely, requiring visitors to either click like or close (if close button is enabled.)
  2. Opacity – A smaller feature that was requested by a lot of buyers was the ability to change the background shadow opacity. You can now do this via a new ‘opacity’ option you can use setting the opacity to whatever you want.

As always you can get the number one Facebook Like script here on CodeCanyon – Updates are FREE to all previous buyers and for new buyers its only $4 bucks!

For owners of Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress, these updates will be making their way to the WordPress version as well.

Facebook Traffic Pop WordPress – v1.5

As usual whenever I update Facebook Traffic Pop I bring the core changes to the WordPress plugin. All the same features from the stand alone version have beeb brought to the plugin making it too version 1.5.

Look for it to pass through approval cues sometime over the weekend.

Facebook Traffic Pop Version 1.5

I have uploaded an update for Facebook Traffic Pop today. The new version is 1.5 and brings:

  • The script now takes advantage of Facebook’s FBML parser. This means that for some people who had issues of the popup working as it should but the Like button would not appear should be gone. Now the script will check itself at the end to parse all Facebook FBML and ensure the like button is loaded.
  • CSS fixes – Some people found that if they had high z-index values on their site certain parts of the popup would not show. I have taken this into consideration and tweaked the CSS to suite most people’s needs.
  • Documentation – fixed a few errors in the documentation and provided better sample / template code.

Look for the update to go live in the next few days, its currently number 13 in the approval cue. An update for the WordPress Plugin will be uploaded soon as well.
