jQuery Facebook Traffic Pop Version 2.0 Is Coming

Facebook Traffic Pop continues to be a huge plugin on CodeCanyon. Over the last few months of building new plugins I created a list of great features to add to the next version of Facebook Traffic Pop. While minor updates were rolling out steady I decided to space this one out and make it a much larger upgrade with a handful of great new features, some of which are not even in the WordPress version yet as a treat for those who bought the script when it first came out :)

Here is a sneak preview of whats included in the new version:

  • Popup Delay – This one came highly requested! You can now set a delay before showing the popup to users giving them a little time (specified in seconds) to check the page out before Facebook Traffic Pop shows and locks the page down.
  • Advanced Close Features – The great advanced close features such as clicking outside the popup or using the escape key to close have been added as an optional close feature.
  • Use Current URL – Facebook Traffic Pop can now use the current URL as the URL to be liked on Facebook! That means if you call it site wide you can have each page URL locked.
  • Upgraded CSS – All of the CSS improvements from the 2.0 WordPress upgrade have been brought to the jQuery version making sure Facebook Traffic Pop looks better than ever.
  • Scroll With Page – Facebook Traffic Pop now stays right in the middle of the screen when users scroll around!
  • No Need To Edit – Now you do not need to place divs or any HTML in your page, just drop in the Facebook Traffic Pop function and you are ready to rock!
  • All New Documentation – FBTP now includes fully re-written documentation with updates for all the new features.
All of these great updates and more will be available this week on CodeCanyon. Don’t forget that if you already bought it’s a free upgrade!

Facebook Traffic Pop PRO

I have gotten a ton of requests from the buyers of Facebook Taffic Pop for WordPress about adding advanced features into the script. I have taken manny of them into consideration and added in some great stuff I came up with a long the way that makes the script much easier to manage, and allows it to work with a wider array of WordPress sites that use a lot of Facebook / social plugins.

First off, and this was a big request, selective page use. Facebook Traffic Pop PRO allows you to enable / disable support for the homepage and also includes a new “Page Selector” feature. This allows you to enter the ID of any page, post, or other taxonomy into the select and then decide how the script should use those pages by either allow the popup to run only on those pages, or all pages on the site except for those selected pages. This granular control also works outside of the homepage settings.

Selective API loading allows you to enable / disable the Facebook SDK being loaded by Facebook Traffic Pop. This is great if your theme or some of the plugins you use do not correctly load the Facebook SDK which results in the library being loaded twice and causing issues on the site. Facebook Traffic Pop PRO allows you to work around these issues.

You can also specify ANY of Facebook’s Localization API’s independently of the locale you use for Facebook Traffic Pop. On top of all these great features I have also included my new TC Plugins Option Framework that brings a complete overhaul to the plugins admin GUI and ads AJAX support.

Installing the upgrade is literally drag and drop! Just make sure you are running the latest version of the plugin, and drop the upgrade files into the folder. As soon as the files are uploaded the PRO version is ready to rock, just go to the settings page like usual to take full advantage of the great new features!

Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress Version 2.0

I have just uploaded the new 2.0 version of Facebook Traffic Pop. All of the cookie issues have been fixed, opacity is fixed, jQuery noConflict is tweaked, and because it took a week, I added in two new features and a brand new admin panel.

  • The new admin panel is much cleaner, more powerful and easier to use.
  • You can now click outside the popup or use the escape key to close the popup.
  • Cookies are now rock solid, I tested it on a bunch of different setups and it is very stable.
  • New opengraph metatag generator for people to customize the Facebook Stream with
  • The CSS has been given an overhaul.

Its currently in 15th pos. in the review queue and because its the weekend it could take a little longer for CodeCanyon to approve it. If you want to download ahead of time send me your purchase code via email and I will send you the download directly!

Updates In The Works For Next Week

I have gotten some emails and comments about Facebook Traff Pop (FBTP) for WordPress and WordPress Like Locker this is an easier way to give everyone the full deets. Mainly some people were affected by Facebooks recent API issues in which the edge.create callback were not firing. This would cause any callback after clicking the like button to take place and was intermitent for about a week. Facebook’s bug page here. Most people had no problem but for those who did it seems to be working again as of a few days ago.

Cookies – Cookie management has been improved in both version of FBTP as well as Like Locker. All source code + CSS is now loaded trough WordPress’ built in enqueue_script/style function to make the plugins more efficient. I am also adding jQuery.noConflict() into all of the plugins to keep them from getting the dreaded xxFunctionNamexx is not a function error that some people get with a high number of JQ plugins.

All of the above is done all thats less is a couple new features that will allow Facebook Like Locker and FBTP to work together seamlessly. All of these updates will be in the review queue on CodeCanyon next week as always a free download for current buyers.

Also just got a great request for escape + click outside of the box to close features.

Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress v1.6 Update

I have just uploaded the new 1.6 version of Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress. It should fix a lot of headaches and comes with one small new feature:

Traffic Pop not working on anything but home page – A lot of people who used highly customized URL structures for their sites reported the pop up would only show on the home page and no sub pages. The error was bad file URL’s causing 404 errors for the scripts needed to run Traffic Pop and has been updated to use WordPress’s built in blog_info functions to get the correct file URLs regardless of your URL rewrites.

“FacebookTrafficPop is not a function” Error – I have also done some reading and changed out the ‘$’ signs that I believe were causing a lot of people’s installs to halt because of the way WordPress handles the signs internally. jQuery noConflict has been added and should ensure smooth sailing from now on.

New Feature - Opacity. You can now set the background opacity from the settings page in your WordPress admin panel.

Facebook Traffic Pop v1.6 Update

I have uploaded an update for Facebook Traffic Pop to version 1.6. The new version speeds things up a bit in the background as far as inserting the like button and two new features have been added.

  1. 0 Timeout – You can now set the timeout option to zero to disable the countdown timer completely, requiring visitors to either click like or close (if close button is enabled.)
  2. Opacity – A smaller feature that was requested by a lot of buyers was the ability to change the background shadow opacity. You can now do this via a new ‘opacity’ option you can use setting the opacity to whatever you want.

As always you can get the number one Facebook Like script here on CodeCanyon – Updates are FREE to all previous buyers and for new buyers its only $4 bucks!

For owners of Facebook Traffic Pop for WordPress, these updates will be making their way to the WordPress version as well.

Facebook Traffic Pop WordPress – v1.5

As usual whenever I update Facebook Traffic Pop I bring the core changes to the WordPress plugin. All the same features from the stand alone version have beeb brought to the plugin making it too version 1.5.

Look for it to pass through approval cues sometime over the weekend.

Facebook Traffic Pop Version 1.5

I have uploaded an update for Facebook Traffic Pop today. The new version is 1.5 and brings:

  • The script now takes advantage of Facebook’s FBML parser. This means that for some people who had issues of the popup working as it should but the Like button would not appear should be gone. Now the script will check itself at the end to parse all Facebook FBML and ensure the like button is loaded.
  • CSS fixes – Some people found that if they had high z-index values on their site certain parts of the popup would not show. I have taken this into consideration and tweaked the CSS to suite most people’s needs.
  • Documentation – fixed a few errors in the documentation and provided better sample / template code.

Look for the update to go live in the next few days, its currently number 13 in the approval cue. An update for the WordPress Plugin will be uploaded soon as well.
